Why I made it...

My name is Sherry Sorbera and every year the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library in Bulverde, Texas has a special event honoring all Veterans.

I made this quilt honoring our military Fallen Texas Heros that sacrificed their lives since 9/11. The quilt was initially displayed at the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library for our Veterans Day Event on November 11, 2011.

I contacted my dear friend, Ruth Holler, who is a member of the American Gold Star Mothers Alamo Area Chapter. She told others in her group about my desire to make a quilt honoring our Fallen Texas Heros. Eleven wonderful families shared their stories about their own Fallen Heros. Their stories add true life to the quilt and are a wonderful tribute to their bravery, love, and loyalty to America.

The banner at the top of the quilt shows the majestic Texas flag and the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, & Coast Guard logos. The Texas Flag pattern is one of Cynthia Englands designs. You can find the free downloadable patterns for the words, Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marines under the Stars and Stripes pattern on her website.

I enjoyed making the quilt by printing the photos on EQ Printables.

Through the quilt I would like people to remember our Fallen Heros and give honor where honor is due.

All Gave Some. Some Gave All.

God Bless,
Sherry Sorbera
